Nokia N8 at First Impressions

Saying that Nokia needs a smartphone miracle is perhaps an exaggeration for a company that still retains approximately 35 per cent market share worldwide. However, it definitely needs a kick up the bum to stay in touch with the likes of Apples, Google and BlackBerry.

Nokia has made the N8 official. Regarding the upcoming N8 smartphone, so far the device is not looking too impressive, but a look at the handset’s specifications reveals that it does feature a very impressive built-in camera.

There are two built-in cameras on the Nokia N8, the front-facing camera for video calls and a rear-facing camera for high-quality image and video capture. The rear-facing camera has a 12MP sensor which uses Carl Zeiss optics and Xenon flash.

From the technical specification, we can se that the camera features a digital zoom capability that can takes snaps at a resolution of 4000 x 3000. Moreover, it is also offers HD video recording at 720p, which has a frame-rate of 25 frames per second.

There’s also free turn-by-turn navigation tossed into the equation, thanks to Ovi Maps 3.0 that should come in handy on the decent-sized display. Other Ovi services are, of course, on offer, like the Ovi App Store for downloading new apps and games. So, are you impressed?
