Nowadays, we frequently feel the necessity to backup our DVDs. This may be due to different reasons, from the safety backing of the movies, which we like, to perhaps adding DVDs of our favorite movies to the personal movie collection. Moreover, with these different needs, there is requirement of backups, some kind of software is needed to save or rip our DVDs.
Few years ago, I did buy DVD player that suppose to be copy films and songs. However, it did not work well; I end up erasing all those films and songs. Nowadays, with the advance in software technologies, it not difficult to convert all popular video and audio formats from one to another on the computer and then we can easily convert the files in various formats and burn it to a DVD. There are bunch of video converter software all over the Internet that support video formats including MOV, FLV, 3GP, MP4, RM, MPEG, WMV, ASF, etc. there are also many audio converter software on the Internet that support audio formats such as: MP3, AAC, AC3, WMA, WAV, OGG, M4A, APE, etc.
On the other hand, sometimes, you want to copy the content of DVDs to a hard drive, you want to store it in your computer and burn it to another DVD as a back up. The process that I have mentioned is called ripping. A dvd ripper is software that copies the content of DVDs to a hard drive. DVD rippers are used to transfer formats, to edit or backup DVD content for playing on media players or mobile devices.
Finally, yet importantly, great DVD ripper software can rip DVD to all popular video formats such as MP4, AVI, WMV, MOV, 3GP, M4V, MPEG, MPG, VOB and FLV and rip DVD to the audio files such as M4A, AAC, AC3, MP3, etc. In addition, the output audio and video files can be perfectly played on most portable players such as iPod, iPhone, PSP, Apple TV, PS3, Xbox 360, iRiver, Archos, Creative Zen, PMP, Pocket PC, Smart Phone, PDA, cell phone, MP3 Player, MP4 Player, and many other audio and video players.
