There is a bunch of gear on the market for DJs and folks that want to be a DJ. The catch is that a lot of that peripheral is expensive and very difficult to learn to use. Hercules sells some of that really expensive and hard to learn gear and it has some gear that falls on the other end of the spectrum too.
At this week’s CES, Hercules announced a new DJ console that is aimed at the beginner looking to DJ in their own home with a cheap and easier to use system. The console is called the Hercules DJ 4Set and it will ship in April for $249.99. For that much money you get a console with a pair of large jog dials for scratching and mixing tracks. The dials and buttons have red or green backlight colors.
The Hercules DJ 4Set Console has 4-channels, with two for mixing and one for headphones output for monitoring tracks. The DJ 4Set can be arranged into four virtual decks and in two deck mode it has 60 controls and in four-deck mode you get 112 controls. The controls are MIDI based and the console comes with the all the software needed to make your own music, but will also work with all 2 or 4 deck MIDI-based mixing software.

BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 Cell Phone Review
BlackBerry, the most sophisticated PDA maker in the mobile phone market, has just launched its latest product, BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220.
The BlackBerry mobile phone was initially designated the handset model number 9100 and was codenamed as “KickStart” that gradually changed to Pearl Flip 8220. The BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 with designs launched by RIM, it was never suggestive that RIM can launch a clamshell form factor and that too at such lightweight with so sturdy and huge flip cell phone.
The BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 cell phone gives the ideal modern look when closed and outer screen displaying incoming calls, messages, BlackBerry Clock (tuned for time with date and day). The BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 cell phone is tattooed with T-Mobile logo and BlackBerry logo at back. Moreover, it is given a smooth matte black plastic finish at back.
The BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 cell phone as per RIM’s legacy supports SureType QWERTY keyboard and the keys are nicely spaced. The cell phone runs on OS 4.6, which is noticeably slower than the mate Bold is.
The BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 cell phone carries the legacy of BlackBerry handset gracefully, thereby offering a nice device to hold on with ease of lightweight. The cell phone is integrated with Lithium Ion battery offering 336 hours of standby and 4 hours of talk time.
To design the compact handset, many compromises have been done as “menu” and “back” keys are placed below the call keys, which make it confusing for the BlackBerry users. Also, the trackball is the standard trackball instead of “Atomic” trackball as featured in Curve 8900. In addition, the cell phone is a revolutionary handset but with non-fixed patches; the camera quality is not really admiring. Finally yet importantly, at concluding note, it can be said that the handset is good to use and easy to carry, making it the best fit for those who want functions with style. The BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 Specifications:

T-Mobile G1 Receives Positive User Experience
An initial user experience evaluation of the highly anticipated T-Mobile G1 reports that T-mobile customers will be pleased with the overall mobile phone setup experience. As specialists in handset research, including extensive experience with out-of-box studies, the team focused on the user experience of setting up the T-Mobile G1 for existing T-Mobile customers.
The first of three evaluations used an existing T-Mobile account and did not evaluate activating a new service. As a Gmail account is required for set up of the T-Mobile G1, the User Centric team evaluated both experiences of setting up a Gmail account through the mobile phone as well as using an existing Gmail account.
The physical setup of the mobile phone was quick; it only took less than ten minutes to get the handset ready to be powered on. Printed materials and accessories were easily found, but the setup was easy enough to do without using the manual. One drawback, although not a show-stopper, was the difficulty opening the battery cover. However, this will likely become easier over time. Moreover, the mobile phone was not labeled for the microSD card that was hiding inside the phone.
Setup turned out to be easy and the process was clear regardless of whether the user has a Gmail account or not. On-screen tips provided during setup were helpful, and setting up a new Gmail account was similar to working online. The mobile phone was ready for use in less than ten minutes from being powered on. Overall, the out-of-box experience was admiring.

Nokia N8 at First Impressions
Saying that Nokia needs a smartphone miracle is perhaps an exaggeration for a company that still retains approximately 35 per cent market share worldwide. However, it definitely needs a kick up the bum to stay in touch with the likes of Apples, Google and BlackBerry.
Nokia has made the N8 official. Regarding the upcoming N8 smartphone, so far the device is not looking too impressive, but a look at the handset’s specifications reveals that it does feature a very impressive built-in camera.
There are two built-in cameras on the Nokia N8, the front-facing camera for video calls and a rear-facing camera for high-quality image and video capture. The rear-facing camera has a 12MP sensor which uses Carl Zeiss optics and Xenon flash.
From the technical specification, we can se that the camera features a digital zoom capability that can takes snaps at a resolution of 4000 x 3000. Moreover, it is also offers HD video recording at 720p, which has a frame-rate of 25 frames per second.
There’s also free turn-by-turn navigation tossed into the equation, thanks to Ovi Maps 3.0 that should come in handy on the decent-sized display. Other Ovi services are, of course, on offer, like the Ovi App Store for downloading new apps and games. So, are you impressed?

The Elm: A Member of the Sony Ericsson Greenheart Family of Devices
The Sony Ericsson Elm is a new member of the Sony Ericsson Greenheart family of phones, devices that have been produced to deliver a high-quality user experience using products and materials that have a lower impact on the environment. It is encouraging to see large firms willing to show their concern about planet Earth and to take their responsibilities in using sustainable materials more seriously; as we all have a part to play in ensuring the resources we use do not cause long term environmental damage.
One of the criticisms leveled at previously launched eco-friendly devices is the fact that whilst they may well have been 'green', their mass appeal was limited due to a very low feature set. With that criticism taken onboard, Sony Ericsson has delivered a high-quality device packed with the most sophisticated technology that should appeal to a larger range of users.
We have mentioned on many occasions that the Sony Ericsson has taken a different strategy, even if not exactly unique approach to addressing modern day environmental concerns. Sony Ericsson does not really believe that solar panel technology is mature enough to reach any results of conceivable significance in practice. Therefore, instead of releasing (nice-looking) devices with arguably effective solar panels, the firm has focused on getting better at using recycled materials, decreasing harmful emissions during manufacturing, providing energy saving features and accessories like highly efficient chargers.

It is not like good old-fashioned mobile phones with buttons are going extinct - they are still the money makers. However, for devices such as the Sony Ericsson Elm sneaking into the spotlight is harder than ever - Symbians, Androids, iPhones, smart and not so smart touchscreens are all over the place. Well, one thing's for sure - a break is welcome once in a while.
Walkman and Cybershot are out of the Sony Ericsson mix, and the doubters are perhaps busy telling you GreenHeart will never be able to rise to the same heights. It's a completely segmented for a different market and matching iconic, game-changing phones like the K750 and the W800 is out of the question really. However, we're not here to look back at what used to be. It's a market were rules are set by touch-screen phones and handsets like the Sony Ericsson Elm do deserve credit for trying to find their own spot under the sun.
The Sony Ericsson Elm integrates ? 2.2-inch TFT screen with QVGA (240x320 pixels) resolution (supporting up to 256,000 colours, with an accelerometer for display auto rotation) that delivers relatively crisp images, although colors are just not saturated enough. The screen-display remains usable in direct sunlight, just increase the brightness to its maximum setting. The Sony Ericsson Elm is equipped with Sony Ericsson´s proprietary port, located on the left hand side, while the volume rocker and camera shutter are on the opposite. The buttons of the tactile, rubberized alphanumeric keypad are easy to press, feature proper travel and on the overall, are enjoyable to type with. This also applies to all other buttons, including the camera shutter, volume rocker and slightly overly rigid D-Pad.

The feature set on the Sony Ericsson Elm is indeed impressive. The device sports a high-quality 5.0MP built-in camera, with auto focus and an LED flash. The light can also be used for video recording in low level lighting conditions. Face and smile detection are supported, and the built-in GPS chip allows captured images to be geotagged. A full media package is available on the Elm; the music player supports various file formats, including AAC and MP3, with the video player working with MP4, H.263 and H.264. Moreover, the device also includes the Sony Ericsson favourite, TrackID, as well as the SensMe feature. SensMe is normally found on the Walkman devices, and allows playlists of songs to be created based on your mood. Music stored on your device is analyzed and selections are made based on things such as mood and tempo.
With big growth in social networking over the last 12 - 18 months, it makes sense for Sony Ericsson to enable easy access to the most popular sites via the mobile phone. Sony Ericsson has long had a blogger application that allows you to keep your blog updated on the move, and more recently included native support for YouTube, too. On the Sony Ericsson Elm, all access to these websites plus services such as Facebook, Twitter and MySpace is all controlled by an onscreen widget, allowing easy access to these services direct from the home-screen of the mobile phone. Location applications pre-installed on the Sony Ericsson Elm include Google Maps, plus WisePilot navigation, both of which work well thanks to the native GPS support.
To round off the excellent credentials of the Sony Ericsson Elm, the connectivity options on the device offer everything necessary on a modern mobile phone; HSDPA is included, offering 3.5G services up to 7.2 Mbps, along with built in WiFi with support for DLNA. Bluetooth 2.1 is available on the device for local area connectivity, plus there is GPRS and EDGE. There is ample memory available on the devie, with an internal capacity of 280MB that can be expanded using microSD memory cards (not M2 cards) up to 8GB capacity.

Unfortunately, you get only one Java-based game with the Sony Ericsson Elm. We know QuadraPop quite well from previous models of the manufacturer and it might be pretty addictive if you have to cross the country on a bus. Sadly, it´s lagging and the graphics overhaul cannot account for the severe speed drop alongside of older models like K750i/W850i, etc.
Finally yet importantly, the Sony Ericsson Elm is an enjoyable mobile phone with great mainstream functionality and eco-friendly features with the top end technology. Its price tag of $240 (for pre-orders) seems fair for what you get.
Sony Ericsson Elm's main disadvantages:
• No bundled data cable or memory card
• No standard USB port
• No 3.5mm audio jack
• No DivX/XviD video support
• No camera lens cover
• No document viewer
• No xenon flash
• Kinda short Wi-Fi receiver range
• Feeble loudspeaker
Sony Ericsson Elm's features:
• 2.2-inches 256K-color TFT screen-display, 240 x 320 pixels
• Eco-friendly package and materials
• Dual-band 3G with 7.2Mbps HSDPA, 2Mbps HSUPA
• Quad-band GSM support
• 5MP autofocus camera with LED flash; geotagging, face detection; VGA@30fps video recording
• microSD card slot, 280 MB internal memory
• Built-in GPS receiver with A-GPS; Trial version of Wisepilot navigation software
• Wi-Fi with DLNA
• Stereo Bluetooth 2.1
• FM radio with RDS
• Social networking integration, widget enhanced interface
• NetFront v3.5 web browser with full Flash support
• Excellent audio quality
• Splash-resistant body
• Noise cancellation

Motorola Zeppelin: An Android-Based Phone with Dual-SIM Slots
Recently, Motorola has aggressively expanded their Android portfolio in many countries with China being one of them. The leaked snaps of a prototype called Zeppelin show a full touch phone with a 5MP built-in camera and dual-mode dual-SIM networking.
The Zeppelin appeared on a Chinese website and showed some intriguing features such as a 3.1-inch touch-screen with 480 x 320 pixel resolutions, 5MP camera with LED flash, HSPA capabilities, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, FM radio and HDMI output.
If the specifications that we have mentioned above looks standard to you, then you may reconsider when you notice that the Zeppelin will pack two SIM slots - one for the CDMA and another for the GSM network.
According to the rumor over the Internet, the Zeppelin is expected to be released at Q1 2010. Unfortunately, the Zeppelin is expected to hit only China.

ITG xpPhone: Much More Powerful than a Smartphone
Here is the xpPhone, a device that looks more like a tablet than a mobile phone, but the cellular call feature is all there and that makes it a phone all right. Coming with a huge 4.8 touchscreen, AMD processor, QWERTY keyboard, 512MB or 1GB RAM and both SSD and HDD storage are the best bits of its hardware.
ITG (Investment Technology Group) is the China-based manufacturer that stands behind the xpPhone. Perhaps, it all sound like another iPhone wannabe, but it is definitely not. The ITG xpPhone is much more powerful than a smartphone. It is more like a netbook with phone capabilities.
As a beginning let's see what's inside this device - AMD Super Mobile processor, 512MB or 1GB RAM, from 8 to 64GB SSD plus from 30 to 120GB HDD (yes both included), 1.3MP camera and various ports - USB, VGA, microphone, earphone, dock connector and SIM slot.
Controlling the ITG xpPhone will be more than easy thanks to the 4.8-inch WVGA TFT touchscreen and the sliding-out QWERTY keyboard that accompanied with numpad on the right side and D-pad on the left. Right in between there is also a small touchpad, while the two mouse buttons are right next to the D-pad.
Full pack connectivity is also onboard - WiFi, quad-band GSM or CDMA, HSDPA/HSUPA thanks to the built-in 3G modem, GPS Bluetooth, and optional WiMax. The bands and frequencies will vary for the different countries and carriers (currently listed for AT&T, Orange and Vodafone).
Considering the fact this device runs Windows XP, the battery life seems strong enough - 5 hours talk time or 5 days of standby, while using it as a regular netbook gives you 7 to 12 hours of power autonomy.
Note: ITG did not publish the physical dimensions of the phone. DoubleDT.Com used the official photos to calculate them, based on the screen size. It turns out that the ITG xpPhone will measure about 158 x 75 x 16 mm. Added to the weight of 400 grams, which is one of the largest phones DoubleDT.Com have ever seen.
The ITG xpPhone will be available in red, black and white colors, but the price and release date remain unknown. You can pre-order it right now, directly from the company official web site (just follow this link). No payment is required at this stage.

Yulong Coolpad Launches Coolpad N900 in China
Yulong, a mainland Chinese supplier of high-end smartphones, launched its 3G handset, the Coolpad N900. Just as Apple is about to reach an agreement on entering the China mobile phone market through cooperation with China Unicom, the new Coolpad N900 looms over the sales prospects of the Apple iPhone 3G by winning itself the title “iPhone Killer”.
Yulong Coolpad, a Shenzhen-based professional company, which specialize in research and production of high-end smartphones that offers a variety of high-end business phone products that are considered the best smartphones in the China market. Yulong introduced the first dual mode dual stand-by technology in the world in 2005. Recently, the company has deeply focused on developing the Coolpad brand, which is quickly emerging as a renowned local brand in China. The Coolpad is seen as one of the major competitors of Samsung in the high-end mobile phone market.
Yulong Coolpad is launching its freshly tuned 3G mobile phone, the Coolpad N900, with CDMA2000/GSM 3G featuring dual SIM dual stand technology that combines the stylish UI of the iPhone’s 3D Touch. Moreover, the Coolpad N900 is designed according the usage habits of Chinese customers. As a flagship 3G product promoted by China Telecom and a bestseller in China, the model is especially favored by the Chinese business elite.
Mr. Li Wang, Executive Vice President of Yulong Coolpad, commented that with more high-end business consumers using more than one mobile number, dual mode dual stand-by mobile phones are expected to become more popular. Meanwhile, younger consumers have also shown a preference for fashionable and stylish functions and have high expectations regarding the convenience of their operation experiences. The Coolpad N900, which is designed on years-long research on the usage habits of high-end consumers, not only includes the latest and coolest TOUCH operation featuring a multi-intelligent interaction experience; it also has swift handwriting input capability convenient for Chinese consumers. With comprehensive applications specifically geared towards Chinese consumers, the Coolpad N900 is unmatched in the China mobile phone market nowadays.
According to a report by Ovum, a telecommunication consulting agency, although iPhone has not officially entered China mobile phone market, over one million iPhone devices have already flowed into China through non-official channels. Besides its cool interface, Chinese consumers have not truly experienced the value-added services offered by iPhone. Moreover, the different usage habits of Chinese and Western users have impeded the using experience of Chinese mobile phone users.
CEO and President of Yulong, Mr. Guo Deying, commented, “One can interpret the Coolpad N900 as this – as fashionable as the iPhone, as professional as the BlackBerry, while at the same time, one of the most suitable mobile phones for Chinese users, all making N900 the ‘iPhone Killer’.”
Nowadays is the 3G era, in which applications of mobile phone content will become a field of major competition. However, the iPhone Appstore’s binding profit mode is facing great pressure from the Google Android camp. In China, where Chinese mobile phone users are accustomed to getting free information and applications from the Internet, iPhone’s method of charging would definitely face great challenges.
According to research done by Analysys on usage habits in Chinese mobile phone market, more than 70% of users prefer downloading products and applications for free. Yulong Coolpad offers a free software shop for the Coolpad N900 that clearly caters to the Internet usage habits of Chinese users. On the other hand, compared with the iPhone, which charges fees, the Coolpad N900 Coolmart that offers products free of charge, has a better bargaining position in the Chinese mobile phone market.
Last but not least, positioned as a major competitor of the iPhone, the Coolpad N900 is expected to take away a fair share of the smartphone market, especially with the iPhone facing a tough entry to the Japanese market, which foreshadows the challenges of foreign brands entering into highly localized markets, such as China.

Samsung C5220: Telstra Prepaid Mobile Phone
Samsung Electronics continues to launch simple and inexpensive handsets, including those that support 3G. One of these innovations is a clamshell phone, Samsung C5220, which will be sold by the Australian telecommunications company Telstra (network Next G). Samsung C5220 is very rich of features; it supports 3G, which is including HSDPA, wireless technology, Bluetooth, and an embedded MP3 player.
Samsung C5220 is one of those handsets you feel you have seen before you take it out of the box. There is no real surprise here. The black plastic chassis is solid and attractive for about 30 seconds before we covered it in greasy finger-shaped smears. On the top of this clamshell phone is a 1-inch external display that shows a very old-school clock face in standby, with the 1.3-MP external camera mounted just above the screen.
Well, the rest of the exterior of Samsung C5220 is sparse. These are obviously no camera on the back, and there were very few shortcut keys, only two volume keys on the side. Two external input ports are covered by plastic doors, a combined charging and a microSD card slot and headphone USB port (without 3.5mm headphone socket here).
Flipping the handset open reveals a colorful but noticeably low-res 2-inch screen. Below it is a tiny front-facing camera for video calling, and below the hinge is a standard Samsung numeric keypad: flat as a tack as per several of Samsung’s previous handsets. Each key on the pad is quite large, though each is defined by horizontal plastic strip with no vertical definition to speak off.
Samsung C5220 is a Telstra mobile phone, and apart from external badges, you cannot miss the fact when you play with this mobile phone. Foxtel and BigPond shortcuts are front and center on the home screen and pressing the middle navigation-key takes you to the main menu, highlighting Telstra’s “My Place” shortcut first.
Samsung C5220 does not have a GPS receiver, but makes good use of cell tower triangulation to find points of interests on the maps in your area. Back to the standard features, Samsung C5220 supports a basic range of media files: AAC, AAC+, MP3s and WMA audio, and MP4 video. While it is not a smart phone, user can install Java applications on it. Predictably, Telstra sprains its applications on the mobile phone, including a Matchmaker dating application that promises to find you love using “technology based on your natural algorithms”.
For basic mobile phone functions, it seems that most of users would have no complaints using Samsung C5220. Call quality was clear and loud, though holding the mobile phone to our face made us aware of some give in the hinge, thought this does not seem like a major issue. Messaging and email is good with T9 predictive text. Web browsing is the real joy, the fast Telstra speeds really show, and we zipped from page to page. The browser is not tremendously robust. When surfing with the Samsung C5220, just make sure you know the mobile alternatives for your favorite websites.
Finally, yet importantly, we have reached our conclusion section. Samsung C5220 is a cheap and cheerful mobile phone. Telstra finally has some budget models to crow about. Samsung C5220 is available outright for AU$199, which seems about right to most of budget-tight consumers. Users get HSDPA web speeds, but to make best use of them, you should be prepared to pay extra for a data package and for subscriptions to Telstra services.Samsung C5220 features:
• UMTS/HSDPA, GSM/EDGE 900/1800/1900 MHz
• Dimensions: 99 x 49.5 x 18.2 mm
• 2-inch screen display, TFT, resolution 176 x 220 pixels, 262K colors

South Korea’s biggest conglomerate and mobile phone maker Samsung is getting ready to launch yet another entry-level handset, the Samsung C3310 slider, which is a tiny 3G-less slider that will be introduced in China (via China Mobile), as well as across Europe at the price around 110 Euros ($150).
Actually, there is nothing exciting about the Samsung C3310 slider, as it has a set of basic features and simple design. However, users who do not need more will probably find the mobile phone good enough for them.
The new Samsung C3310 slider is expected to come to the market featuring three-color versions, namely silver, black and blue.Samsung C3310’s specifications and features include:

Meizu M8: The Real Apple iPhone Killer
People say that 8GB Meizu M8 is the real Apple iPhone killer. Well, Meizu M8 has been confirmed for a Chinese market. It will be launched on the first week of December of this year with "complete fanfare" (or whatever it means).
Well, for those fans all over the world, I have to inform you that Meizu M8 will be launched only in the Chinese market. It will soon release by electronic manufacturer Geek IT through their franchise network in India.
Here are some of the Meizu M8's specs:
• 3.2-inch LCD screen
• 3 MP web cam
• FM Tuner
• Music Player
• 3D Surround Sound
• Windows CE Bluetooth
• EDGE
Well, I got to say that the user-interface is looking pretty slick and well made. Moreover, the entire interface is made quite well, a lot nicer than it was before. Surprisingly, Meizu M8 had it multi-touch so smoothly implemented, so far most Chinese companies have not been able to implement smooth multi-touch image resizing.
I am so curious about how was Meizu M8 able to mimic the Apple iPhone UI with Microsoft Windows CE? Well, it seems that Meizu works in mysterious ways. The Meizu M8’s price will range from $384-$469. I wish Meizu would hurry up, get it license issues resolved, and get this gadget out.

INQ1 Phone Supports Full Facebook Integration and Skype Functionally
Hutchison's new mobile phone subsidiary called INQ has a new handset called the INQ1 phone that set to target the social networking addicts. The INQ1 phone is not that much to look at, a frumpy looking slider with a half decent screen, but inside is a huge amount of software.
When the first range of Skype phones were launched they were a bit basic and not that nice to look at. Then, things get better as time goes on, and this new INQ1 phone with its Facebook integration and Skype functionally is a great step forward.
When looking at the INQ1 phone is, it does not look like anything spectacular. However, when you take a closer look at the INQ1 phone, everything gets better. The INQ1 phone has a 3.2MP camera, but the old design lets it down a little.
The social networking angle with the INQ1 phone if of course Facebook, and the INQ1 phone has an integrated Facebook application that rivals that of Facebook's own work with the Apple iPhone.
The INQ1 phone is not about its looks, but rather about its software, like the full Facebook integration and Skype functionally. The INQ1 phone also has some other great software features, such as Windows Live Messenger and eBay tracker.
The INQ1 phone allows its users to view their contacts and text or IM through Facebook chat. The INQ1 phone also has HSDPA connection (at speed of up to 7.2Mbps). Look for it sometime this month with a price of £99 (~$157.00.)
