Google to Release Android Open-Source Code

Google, the Mountain View, California-based company, on Tuesday has just released the open-source code that powers its Android mobile OS and invited outside programmers to tinker with the software to develop their own features.

According to the resources over the net, the expected release of the Google Android open-source code came on the eve of the arrival in stores of the Google Android-based T-Mobile G1 phone, Internet search king Google's challenge to the hot-selling Apple iPhone.

Google unveiled its long-awaited mobile phone last month, the first of what is expected to be a generation of devices built on the Android operating platform. The Android-enabled "G Phone" can incorporate applications from any number of developers while the iPhone, for example, runs on Apple software. However, Google software faces fierce competition from the world's biggest mobile phone maker, Nokia, and its Symbian system. Moreover, U.S. software giant Microsoft also has a Windows OS for mobiles and a separate consortium is working on an open-source Linux solution.

The phones that cost $179, which is $20 cheaper than the Apple iPhone 3G, go on sale in the U.S. on Wednesday, in Britain in early November and in other European countries served by telecom carrier T-Mobile in early 2009.

The T-Mobile G1 offers many of the features of the Apple iPhone and Research in Motion's popular BlackBerry including a touch screen similar to that of the Apple iPhone, high-speed Internet browsing, a trackball for navigation, Wi-Fi, email, instant messaging and SMS texting.

Google’s ambition is to make Android as the standard OS for mobile phones and to enhance the quality of web browsing for handset users, which is aimed to drive traffic to the company's websites, so Google can earn much more money and become unbeaten company all over the Internet.

Google has already held the first of what is to be an annual "Android Developers Challenge" and given away $5 million in prize money for innovative software tailored to the platform. On the other hand, if this program has succeeded, Google will gain hundreds of million dollars in its pocket.

Google announced the Open Handset Alliance in November of last year to develop Android. It includes China Mobile, HTC, Motorola, Intel, Qualcomm, T-Mobile, LG, Telefonica and eBay.

Almost all money-earning app is more useful than that, with even the less goal-oriented ones demonstrating more sophistication. For example, Rayfarla and TuneWiki focus on music, but incorporate all sorts of unique and specific elements such as virtual musical instruments and synchronized lyrics.

The other top earner starts with cab4me that supposed to simplify the process of finding a taxi. Others in the list are GoCart and CompareEverywhere are shopping aids, while Ecorio tracks users' carbon footprints. Android: UI Still in Development Phase

If you (Android lovers) are thinking that the imminent release of the first phone using the user-interface would mean it is almost complete, then you are definitely wrong.

Our fellows over at Gizmodo to share the world a sneak preview of Android via a video of the emulator, and while it hints at possible great things, the Android 0.9 SDK (Software Development Kit) is worryingly under-stocked.

The good news is the home screen looks great. We can have (what looks like) up to three home pages, with the wallpaper divided into thirds to accommodate all three positions. Moreover, we can drag and drop widgets onto each including things as if a clock or Google search-bar, or we can click a tab to bring up a menu of everything.

The wallpaper choice is easy, and most applications and options can be customized to appear in a drop down menu at the top of the screen, so multi-tasking is on. In addition, the web-browser looks a bit spiffy too, with full web page support, easy zooming and a small magnifying pane for scrolling over bunch of text.

In fact, Google Maps looks great, with a nicer and more simplistic interface, and great StreetView integration. Here we can see a man drinking his coffee on our mobile stuffs!

However, the negative side is worrying that the absence of all the beautiful Google Apps likes Documents and Mail. Everything from the media players to the picture viewer seems to be divided into panes for access. Whether this will be complex or intuitive, we will have to sit, wait and see. However, the emulator did not really show enough to convince us either way.

Overall, the big worry is that the SDK leaves many questions unanswered. Nevertheless, if Google gets them right (and it seems simple), then this could be the interface everyone has been waiting for. Yet, add in some open source applications that raise the bar even further, and this could be the user-interface for years to come.

SaaS to Cut Costs and Increase Efficiency

Conducting Internet web conferences have become essential in nowadays business environment. Online meetings provides a flexible, fast, and inexpensive solution for collaboration with employee’s offsite, providing online presentations to potential clients, even conducting Internet training courses without ever having to leave the office. Undoubtedly, real cost savings can be realized by utilizing the Internet to help cut down on travel expenses, companies are taking a serious look at cheap web conferencing software in hopes of finding an alternative solution that can meet all their needs.

While finding cheap web conferencing is the ultimate aim of businesses, there are certain factors that we have to consider. The cheap rates for the web conferencing are not the most important feature of such a service. Although, they may seem attractive on the surface, but we do have to look deeper into the services to make sure that we can get exactly what we want. If cost is a major factor in getting the cheapest conference calling rates, then the best thing that we can do is a search of all the providers to find which one to offer us the best plan for the cheapest rate.

Nowadays, hosted infrastructure often makes sense for companies, especially small ones with modest needs. Yesterday, I was doing searches on the Internet and it is actually surprised me quite a bit that the result for searching the term “hosted team foundation server” through the search engine shows up unsatisfying results. I could not get what I wanted. Although I am sure, there is bunch of technical issues around such a service, but insofar as I can see, it would be a brilliant step to gain a market share that is virtually limitless now.

Recently, the software as a service (SaaS) business model is influencing the software industry. It is also affecting how our customers acquire business solution and functionality. SaaS is a software distribution model, which applications are hosted by service provider or vendor and made available to customers over a network, typically the Internet. In this model, application functionality is delivered through a subscription model over the Internet.

SaaS trend is a reflection of growing demand by companies to find simpler and more economical means of implementing IT to their businesses’ advantage. Moreover, it has transforming the industry, particularly the segment that targets business users. That is why I believe that there is no reason why people would not go to SaaS model first and foremost, and design the application for that.

In SaaS business model, the customers do not take ownership of the software. Instead, they rent a total solution that is delivered remotely. In addition, SaaS is one of the fastest growing segments of the Information Technology (IT) industry because it provides a more cost-effective solution for companies to achieve their business goals than traditional packaged applications. Undoubtedly, with the SaaS business model, we can reduce up-front support costs because we no longer need to support multiple versions and platforms. This rapidly emerging delivery model can help us to enter new markets.

Finally, yet importantly, the number of people that we need to conference with at one time is also important factor to consider when we are looking the costs of web conferencing. The best cheap conferencing via the web should allow us to include a large number of participants. If we need to include people from distant locations, then we need to ensure that our cheap rates allow us to include them. The rates are also a determining factor. Moreover, some companies charge on a rate per person, while others charge a monthly or annual flat rate. We also have to be careful about any hidden fees that my not be explicit in our contract, but how up on our invoice for web conferencing fees.

All-in-one Audio/Video Converter and Ripper Software

Nowadays, we frequently feel the necessity to backup our DVDs. This may be due to different reasons, from the safety backing of the movies, which we like, to perhaps adding DVDs of our favorite movies to the personal movie collection. Moreover, with these different needs, there is requirement of backups, some kind of software is needed to save or rip our DVDs.

Few years ago, I did buy DVD player that suppose to be copy films and songs. However, it did not work well; I end up erasing all those films and songs. Nowadays, with the advance in software technologies, it not difficult to convert all popular video and audio formats from one to another on the computer and then we can easily convert the files in various formats and burn it to a DVD. There are bunch of video converter software all over the Internet that support video formats including MOV, FLV, 3GP, MP4, RM, MPEG, WMV, ASF, etc. there are also many audio converter software on the Internet that support audio formats such as: MP3, AAC, AC3, WMA, WAV, OGG, M4A, APE, etc.

On the other hand, sometimes, you want to copy the content of DVDs to a hard drive, you want to store it in your computer and burn it to another DVD as a back up. The process that I have mentioned is called ripping. A dvd ripper is software that copies the content of DVDs to a hard drive. DVD rippers are used to transfer formats, to edit or backup DVD content for playing on media players or mobile devices.

Finally, yet importantly, great DVD ripper software can rip DVD to all popular video formats such as MP4, AVI, WMV, MOV, 3GP, M4V, MPEG, MPG, VOB and FLV and rip DVD to the audio files such as M4A, AAC, AC3, MP3, etc. In addition, the output audio and video files can be perfectly played on most portable players such as iPod, iPhone, PSP, Apple TV, PS3, Xbox 360, iRiver, Archos, Creative Zen, PMP, Pocket PC, Smart Phone, PDA, cell phone, MP3 Player, MP4 Player, and many other audio and video players.

All My Movies™: Flexible Movie Organizer Software

Recently, I am looking for some piece of software that can organize my movie or television show files on my hard drive. I have a problem to organize and manage it. Then, I tried to find out a solution for my problem on the Internet. Well I have great news for you, because I just found out that there is a program called All My Movies™. All My Movies™ is a movie organizer program, which is intended for those who are tired of managing their home movie collection.

To be honest, I never really thought about using a program like All My Movies™ until I was facing a problem with the files on my hard drive and decided to manage and organize all my movie collection. Before I was doing the searches on the Internet, I did not know there was software out there that does an outstanding job at this very thing.

All My Movies™ is a useful utility for cataloguing one’s movie collection. It supports all formats such as Video CD, DVD, AVI and MPEG files. It is supports old format too, like VHS tapes. Therefore, you can use it for cataloguing your personal collection of CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes, etc. In addition, you do not need to type all movie details, because All My Movies™ will download all the details from the Internet movie database automatically.

All a user has to do is to scan a hard drive or insert a DVD. Then, All My Movies™ will extract all movie information such as title, actors, director, genre, description, languages, subtitles, etc. This program can import more information from online movie databases if the required information is absent. However, what really amaze me is that the software has a multilingual feature. It supports English, Belorussian, Greek, Dutch, French, Russian, Latvian, Serbian, Polish, Portuguese, German, Italian, Swedish, Spanish, and Finnish languages.

I am sure that the options and flexibility of All My Movies™ are great and permit you to control the program to suit your specific needs. This is a great help for us who stress with our own movie collection. Although I have mentioned a lot from the beginning of this post, but I still cannot give prefect information about All My Movies™. Therefore, I am suggesting you to click the link that I have provided inside of this post. The link will lead you to Bolidesoft.com site. At that site, you will get more information about All My Movies™.

Protecting the Safety of Your Kids Online

There is no need to argue that the Internet is a great place for kids and teens. Everyone can access all information from the Internet. It is like a huge city, which is available directly from your personal computer. Yeah, the city with its own libraries, museums, universities, places to have fun and opportunities to meet and chat with other people from all over the world. However, just like many big cities in the reality world, the Internet has its own dangers and hazards.

If you have kids that are frequently accessing the Internet, then you must concern the future of your own kids, you do not want them to become in touch with dangerous illegal and unsolicited experience neither working nor online with computer in general. You need to protect your kids from predation online, from immoral and unethical websites, from horrific and dangerous imagery online that challenge the values that you wish to instill in your kids.

If you are assuming that pornography and sexual predators are the only dangers that your kids will face on the Internet, then you have made a mistake, a big mistake. Many areas that foster hate crimes, the forum to discuss the best ways to commit suicide, the websites that teach the kids how to make bombs and weapons, the websites that encourage the use of drugs and even the areas where the kids watch others take drugs via webcams. Speaking about those freaky things is just making me sick and that is why you need to know the activities of your kids on the Internet.

Spying on someone else computer is not something that most of us do willingly. However, there are times when we must do it for the safety of your kids. You need to keep a check on kids surfing activities by using monitoring software. The type of software that can record emails, record chats and record the websites visited.

Recently, I have found a tool that can enable you to do such controls. You can use Family Keylogger to do these protections. The software that can enable you to monitor what the exactly information that your kids has sent through emails, when the email was sent, or even to record any passwords that your kids use to access his or her email account. They even cannot know that you are watching them. The program will reside in memory while being invisible for everyone except you. All you need to do is just pressing unhide key combination on keyboard to see what your kids were typing. By doing this action, you can have a clear record of their activities. Do not worry, you have the right to know it.

Google Sky on Google Earth: Planetarium - Universe on Your Computer

Yesterday, Google just announced its Google Sky, which is a new feature in Google Earth that lets you to explore the universe from within it. Google Sky allows its users to view the sky from within their own computers at home.

Google Earth: A Popular Desktop Mapping Application

Google Earth, Google’s popular desktop mapping application, is a kind of satellite imagery-based mapping software that combines the power of Google Search with satellite imagery, maps, terrains and 3D buildings. This software has served the need of geographic information in wide capability.

Since the day of Google Earth was launched, users around the world has been exploring the world and creating content overlays, share their explorations with other peoples. Now, Google has launched a new feature on it, which is Google Sky.

Google Sky: An Astronomical Exploration Tool

Google Sky, a tool that provides wide coverage information about various celestial bodies, from planets to stars; it includes imagery from the Hubble Space Telescope and other sources. You should not surprise if the imagery is stitched together with more than a million images, because Google and NASA have already worked together on images that show the earth from space.

Google Sky has turned Google Earth into a virtual telescope, you can view all the constellations just from the earth, and you even can explore them in 3D view. You can watch how the planets rotate using an animation tool and more. Yeah, you can grab the cosmos right on your few clicks.

Several sky layers listed in this tool, including Constellations (Cassiopeia to Andromeda), Backyard Astronomy (lets users click through a variety of place-marks and information on star, galaxies and nebulae), Hubble Showcase (provides users with over 120 high-resolution images provided by the Hubble Space Telescope), The Moon, The Planets, User’s Guide to Galaxies and Life of Star.

Google Sky: Learning Will Never Be the Same

Google engineers have worked so hard, they have stitched together “terabytes and terabytes” of images and other data. A terabyte data can hold the text of roughly a million of books. No doubt, that Google Sky (inside Google Earth) will be an incredible educational resource for anyone who has a dream to become an astronaut or a geek that love something outside our earth.

I just can able to say “WOW”; learning will never be the same. What do you think about it?
